Deep Blue Bedroom styling to make your guests at home
High Street brand, Dunelm set us the challenge to style a room in our home to discover our favourite picks from their range and see what our take on it would be.
You know we love a challenge and we have guests coming to stay (Jord’s Mum for one, so it needs to be extra special). We were intrigued to see if this well known homewares retailer had anything to get our creative juices flowing, so we dived in and opted to style our guest bedroom.
Pink bedding was an instant starting point for us to go with the deep blue textured walls of the room and from there we layered a look to see if affordable Luxe could be a thing.

Mixed metallics and textures of velvet and faux fur make an inviting bed for any festive guest to thaw out in.
Whilst below, a snowflake cushion and soft faux mohair throw gives this chair a scandi cosiness and the twigs from the garden give these 'Hotel' brass cuffed vases a relaxed elegance.
For a festive touch, add the white fringing (or any tassels and fringe you may find that go with the look you have chosen) to the mantlepiece. Simple to do, but big on impact.
This stunning glass and brass "Deco Charm" lantern on the hearth to adds warmth and interest, using lots of different textured glasses to diffuse the candlelight.
A glue gun is a must have in any home and here we have used it to add white dressmakers fringing around the bottom of plain white lampshades on these vintage blue ceramic bases.
For instant impact we were surprised by how much Dunelm had to offer and they even have craft supplies to help you add your own creative layers to a room, making any guest feel really special. Admittedly, we were dubious at first. We are not design snobs in any way – you will find High street amongst High end pieces in most of our interior design projects – but we didn’t know if there would be anything that floated our boats Dunelm. So what a pleasant surprise – it was love at first sight when we saw the Emerson faux fur cushion in deep midnight blue. This piece is our star as it gives such texture and depth of colour to set off the pink velvet bedding.
If you are looking for a speedy styling session to please anyone that comes to your house this festive season, then you may need to have a keen eye and your self-editing level set to high in order to find the best bits to suit your needs, as the range is vast, but there’s plenty to get inspired by at this well known store.
