Why we are heading out of London for the day and you should too – 5 reasons you need to be at Spring Fair.

This year, we have made a conscious decision that we want to make it a year of connection. 2017 felt like a year of good honest hard work with our heads down in our studio, but that can be lonely. We want to shake it up and get out to some shows that are new to us, spend time face-to-face with more like minded design obsessives and hunt out some original suppliers that can keep our work and our minds fresh.
Spring Fair, 4-8 February at the NEC, is the largest showcase of homewares and gifting brands anywhere in the UK, so we are told. How have we not been before? A great way to connect with some new suppliers and unlock some insider trends. If you are anything like us, your inquisitive mind won’t be able to resist a visit.
Admittedly, these things are vast and can be overwhelming – if you have been following our design travels from the beginning you may remember our first trip to Maison et Objet in Paris 5 years ago when we thought we were meant to see every single thing on show and ended up with blisters the size of our heads (little did we then realise that we only needed to focus on halls 7&8). To save you some of that comedy, we have picked out our top 5 reasons you need to get out and take a trip to this year’s Spring Fair.

In our experience, you have to wade through a lot of things you don’t love to get to the pieces that are right for you. But it is so worth it when you find those unexpected gems and in doing so you will get an amazing overview of what’s new and what is on offer right now in the homewares world.
Not just because it gives you a firmer bum after a day of walking, the legwork is so rewarding because you get to take the temperature of the overall scene by taking it in, whether it’s all up your street or not. And you can make those personal connections with new suppliers that may just make your life easier when it comes to specifying items for interiors.
For us there is the added bonus of being on our home turf as we are both born midlanders (Hello mum) – Big up the British interiors scene. Register now for your free ticket, here.
See you there x
