Hear Me Roar – Changing Rooms (Leeds)

For us, designing a room is all about the person who lives there and if beige is their idea of beauty then we are going to do the best beige room we can. Yes we are known for bold colour and exciting combos, but that does not mean we can’t create a neutral nirvana if that’s the order of the day.

So here we went down a Yeezy/L.A. neutrals route with lots of natural texture and tonal layers. We also brought in a strong dose of powerful femininity with our nod to Michelle Pfieffer’s iconic Catwoman. If that’s a bit of a curve ball, we do like our rooms to empower those who live in them, it all makes sense in the end.

“I am Catwoman, hear me roar” (backflip backflip backflip)

Meeeooow! So this week is all about cats! Well not all about cats but they were a big part of the inspiration for the room...and more specifically the fun we had making it.

The brief for this room told us that the resident cats were a key part of the space so it was time to call upon our favourite character from one of our favourite movies, Batman Returns. And put on THAT top...all in the name of design.

The art we made with Anna was our gift to this feline loving fam. And as for that smudge....

We did several tests on paper, but nothing could prepare us for putting it on a wall and ceiling. Especially in that black rubber. It was do or die.

...we knew it would turn out beautiful in the end. Turning a household broom into a wall mural with a little watered down paint and a lot of courage.

There were so many 'makes' in this one, so it was a huge team effort as always.

Meanwhile, we couldn't resist getting a little of our fav pink into the neutral scheme.

The lovely people we worked with on this were all incredible and up for the challenge. SO much love in the room.

What a joy!

This one got us right in the heart. We put ourselves out there in a big way, not only taking the design over the edge, but also taking ourselves out of our comfort zone, with a not so typically 2LG neutral design.

The result was a calming room and some more wonderful friendships made.
